Fostering in Blackpool
Excel Fostering need your help. Could you start fostering in Blackpool in Lancashire and help us continue to provide high-quality foster care services to children and young people across the North West. If you’re interested in joining our team and help make a difference, then get in touch with our office team today.
We work closely with Blackpool Council, along with other local authorities in the area. We help to provide much-needed foster families to children and young people in care that the local authority doesn’t have the resources to place themselves. This is why we want you to consider becoming a foster carer and joining our team, so that together, we can make sure that all children and young people can have the loving and caring homes that they deserve.
Some people see foster care as a very general “one size fits all” service, but the reality is that each placement is different and at Excel, we provide many different types of foster care. As well as more straightforward long and short-term placements, we also offer more specialist care, including sibling group, respite and parent and child care. We’re especially interested in hearing for those able to provide these more specialised forms of care.
As a foster carer, you’ll receive a competitive weekly allowance – the value of which varies dependant upon the type of fostering service you’re providing. This weekly payment is made, not just to help cover the costs of caring for your placement, but also as a reward for the love, time and dedication invested in your new role. Our foster carers are also eligible for income tax breaks, as they are technically classed as self-employed professionals.
A few things to consider before applying to join the Excel family. To become a foster parent, you need to be over the age of 21 and be in good health – this is simply so we know that you’re physically able to look after any child or young person placed in your care. You also need to have a spare bedroom in your home. Having a private and secure space is a vital part of the fostering experience and helps provide positive fostering results. Your age, gender, faith, nationality or sexuality has no impact on your ability to join our team. In fact, we’re always looking for team members to help us build an increasingly diverse foster service; allowing us to best meet the cultural and personal needs of children and young people in care.
