Capstone Foster Care are looking for a Psychotherapist with experience of working with care-experienced children and fostering families, to join our Multi-disciplinary Assessment, Therapy and Treatment Service (MATTS). Current research recognises the enduring negative impact of adverse childhood experiences, and we believe that these can be prevented by emotionally supported relationships and flexible dependable services that are responsive to the needs of the child. MATTS tries to be that service. You will be supported in the role by the clinical lead and other senior members of the team

The MATTS team is truly multi-disciplinary and will comprise of Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, Consultant Systemic Psychotherapists, Clinical Psychologists, Education Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Forensic Therapists, Art Therapists, NVR Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Environmental Therapists.

The current MATTS team take huge satisfaction from being able to provide a service that is able to adapt and respond to the changing situations for children and young people. The service is offered without waiting lists and is well funded- and we promote long term therapy intervention when needed for children and young people, we pride ourselves on being able to work across our large MDT and seek advice from different professionals when needed. The MATTS team meet every quarter and it is an enriching experience to work with and learn from such an experienced and skilled team of professionals.

The MATTS team is situated within the organisation alongside the Fostering Social Work team which means that there are plentiful opportunities for joint working.The team provide clinical support to foster carers by weekly telephone calls and/or face to face sessions, then undertake a Comprehensive Assessment of Need’ to inform the Therapeutic Treatment Plan and provide direct work with a child or young person depending on the recommendations from the assessment. They participate in Clinical Review meetings and provide written reports to the network.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical oversight of a caseload.
  • Clinical oversight / case manager responsibility for clinicians within the team (including clinicians who work with us on a self-employed basis)
  • Consultation work across our services in Blackpool and Burnley as well as with our partners in social care, community settings, schools.
  • Chairing of regular clinical review meetings, and engagement in professional discussions with our partners
  • Preparing reports for internal use and for external agencie
  • Maintaining good communications with referrers and other professionals involved
  • Support the development of the clinical work within the service in supporting training inputs, staff development sessions etc.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists or Qualified Psychotherapists with extensive experience of working with children and their families.
  • Hold a professional membership e.g., BACP, UKCP.
  • Experienced working in therapeutic services and/or fostering or private care sector
  • Looking to co-work with experienced colleagues who share a passion for working in a trauma-informed way
  • Have a strong interest and some relevant experience in understanding and working with developmental trauma
  • Be experienced in working within a professional network e.g. children’s social care and looked after children
  • Will have some leadership and management experience e.g. case management / clinical oversight / planning.
  • Able to maintain a high standard of clinical records
