Are you wondering how to apply to become a foster carer? If you’ve familiarised yourselves with the foster care requirements and you know the implications of what it means to become a foster carer, it could be time for you to put in your application with Excel Fostering.

Step 1 Initial Enquiry

You can get in contact with us by completing an online form, requesting a call back or, alternatively, we can send an information pack to your home.

Arranging A Home Visit

We will arrange a home visit to meet you and your family, or a video chat to get to know you better. This will provide you with a chance to ask us questions, and get to know one another.

Applying To Become
A Foster Carer

The next step will be to complete an application form. At this point, you will also be assigned a social worker who will work with you throughout the process.

Starting The Assessment

To begin the assessment process, you and your social worker will work with each other to complete a Form F assessment.

Step 5 Skills To Foster

Training for our foster carers begins as soon as you apply to become a foster parent. All of our prospective foster carers are required to attend our ‘Skills to Foster’ training course.

Going To Panel

At this stage, final checks are carried out by a panel before your recommendation is made to become a foster carer.

Your Placement

You are now an approved foster carer, and you’re ready to begin your fostering placement.
