This question may have popped into your mind while you think about starting a career in fostering. If you’re reading this, you probably have some interest in supporting children and young people in need, but perhaps you’re not quite at the stage where you’re aware of all the benefits of becoming a foster parent.

There is no experience quite as rewarding as providing a safe and secure space and essential care services to children and young people in need. As a professional fosterer with an independent fostering agency such as Excel, you’ll be making a real difference to the lives of people in your local area and will be able to help them develop and grow and provide positive foster care outcomes.

At Excel Fostering, we offer many types of fostering services, meaning that it’s possible to suit a new career in foster care to what’s right for you and your family. Many carers take the opportunity to work from home to combine foster caring with the care of their own children, for example. We feel that foster care is a full-time job and that, as a carer, you’re a professional – so we always treat our carers as such. All of our registered foster parents will receive a weekly fostering benefit. Not only is this there to help cover to costs of caring for your fostering placement, but also as a reward for working hard and dedicating yourself to the care of children and young people that, for whatever reason have had to leave their families.

If you decided to become a foster carer with Excel Fostering, we will also provide you with carer skills training that will aid you in providing the child or young person in your care with a positive and productive foster care experience – as well as aid in your continued professional development. Our team of social workers and support staff will also be on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year (yes, even Christmas!) to advise and guide you throughout your new profession – as a foster parent with Excel Fostering, you’ll never be working alone.
