Xmas done differently: Excel family helps those in need

27th November, 2020

Our amazing foster family, the Clarkson’s, have decided to celebrate Christmas a little differently this year. The Clarkson family have decided to donate to their local food back and help those in need during these tough times.

Christine Clarkson shared with us why she wanted her family to celebrate Christmas differently this year, she said:

“As a family we all try to focus on the positives instead of the negatives, especially during the Covid pandemic. We have two biological sons and three children currently in our care on a long-term basis.

“Together we regularly discuss how lucky we are to be in a position where firstly we haven’t had to worry about loss of earnings due to being fully paid by Excel, and secondly that we are warm, fed and have lots of things in our home to entertain us.

“For this reason, this year our children decided to forfeit one Christmas present each and to exchange that gift for food to donate to a local food bank. This money as well as donations from Nanny, Granny and Aunties, have meant that we have managed to get together this gigantic haul of food and household items to be shared to families who are struggling this year.

“We are super proud of our children and hope that this gesture may encourage others to realise just how lucky we are.

“No child should ever go to bed hungry!”

What a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas by helping the local community and those who require extra care during the festive period, we are so proud of the Clarkson family for their lovely gesture.
